What Is Your Stance On Gun Control Laws?

With the recent court ruling in Wash. D.C. the gun debate has been brought up again. I'm curious to know where you all stand on this issue.

1. Are you totally against civilians owning any type of gun and feel that only law enforcement and military should have access to them?

2. Do you think that civilians have the right to purchase legal weapons; those would be hand-guns, rifles, and shotguns. Of course other laws apply such as being 18+ or 21+, background checks, and their name and weapons have to be registered?

3. Do you think that civilians have the right to purchase guns, however you feel that there should be restrictions on carrying them in public?

I'll pick option 4. I think all citizens who can meet minimum requirements (such as no history of mental illness, no felony convictions) should be allowed to purchase guns and carry them anywhere.

When 2nd amendment was written the Rifle was the most advanced and accurate weapon on the planet. The Idea behind the 2nd amendment was not just arming the militia it was essential that the CITIZENS BE THAT MILITIA, that way the citizens are more armed that the government and they're actually in charge of it instead of being subservient to the government. Which is why it's "the right of the People to keep and bear arms" instead of the States right.

According the Anti-2nd Amendment crowd it's the right of the State to Keep and Bear Arms, well no. The right of the people to keep and bear arms means the states are now armed should they call forth the militia.

The founders wanted the citizens ready to defend their homes from foreign invaders. It's actually unconstitutional for the US to NOT to be doing what the Swiss do which is train and regulate the militia.

Ya know I don't have any guns, I think I'm gonna go buy one today.

Here in Oklahoma we have 2 laws.

"Make my Day" = If a person breaks into your home you have the right to use lethal force.

"Stand your ground" = If you are in public and feel that your life is in peril or danger, you have the right you use lethal force. This law is somewhat vague, but basically you just cant go around shooting ppl and claiming your life was in danger, you have to be able to establish the danger or its Murder 2.

In the book Fountainhead by Ann Rand, she writes about the government taking away the guns, then taking away the liberties then taking away the wealth of the nation.

Hmmm, sounds like what Hitler did to get funds to rebuild his nation.

1. No I am not against citizens having guns
2. I am for citizens being able to purchase weapons, as long as the exisiting laws hold true
3. The existing laws should apply

I used to think that those of us who cherish freedom and those who wish to disarm us had the same common goal of a safe and free society, and that they just misunderstood human nature.

But I've come to realize that those same people favor turning criminals lose on the street, that they favor government confiscation of private property, that they support large intrusive government programs, that they wish to take away our right to raise our children as we see fit, that they wish to deprive us of our earnings and enslave us to the taxing authorities.

This isn't a disagreement of means. It is a disagreement over the very fiber and nature of our society. What it means to be American, free or slave.

Gun control is an attack on the very essence of what it means to be free.

I think that people should be allowed to have certain types of guns such as shotguns and pistols but I don't see the point in having automatic weapons. I think that background checks are necessary and I also think that people should not be allowed to carry guns in public.

1. Against what you wrote.
2. We have the right to purchase without registration.
3. Agree with current concealed carry laws.

All gun control laws are unconstitutional.

Every free citizen should be able to won them.

Crouched, with two hands extended, firmly gripping the firearm.

1. No the police and military should not be able to own any more guns than civilians. The government is our slave. We are its master.
2. Yes I believe civilians have the RIGHT to buy any legal weapons, which would include every type of firearm and also other weapons that serve a legitimate purpose for the militia. You do not have to register your weapons. That is ridiculous. Gun registration completely defies the whole points of the second amendment.
3. Civilians have the right to keep and BEAR arms. There should be absolutely no restrictions on carrying them in public. Vermont has no restrictions on carrying firearms and has one of the lowest crime rates as a result.

All three of your options are illegal and wrong. The right of the people to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. I do not have to ask the government permission to exercise my rights. We need to abolish all gun control.

Before the 1968 Nazi-styled 'Gun Control' Act;

- People could mail order firearms without a background check.
- People could acquire handguns outside their state of residence.
- People from different states could privately sale handguns.
- Individuals under the age of 21 could purchase a handgun, and individuals under the age of 18 could buy a shotgun or rifle.
- People that had previously violated the law and whom were once again free, included ex-felons. Could purchase firearms and exercise their right to Self-Defense as intended.
- The instances of "mass shootings" were extremely rare. The only memorable one being that of Charles Whitman at the University of Texas.

Since the enactment of the unconstitutional 1968 act;

- There have been more than 100 mass shootings.
- Crime has risen dramatically, especially violent crime.
- All of our liberties have been slowly eroding away

Guns don't kill people. People kill people. I am a firm believer in the US Constitution and believe we should have the right to bear arms. However there may be times that restrictions need to be placed on where weapons can be carried on your person, whether you have a permit or not. Schools, colleges, hospitals, workplaces, etc... are to name a few.
Hand gun owners in my opinion need to be 21 years of age. Rifles and shotguns (because of hunters) could be 18 years of age. All weapons should be registered and if you are against that then something is wrong somewhere. Is the gun stolen or what? Why would anyone refuse to have their gun registered unless something illegal was going on? Makes no sense to me. Yes, background checks should be done on anyone wishing to purchase guns and I personally like the 3 day waiting period before you can take possession. Some disagree and I appreciate their stance, I just differ with them on that issue.
This issue is a hot topic right now. I personally own 4 handguns, two rifles and two shotguns. The handguns are from when I was a Police officers for 25 years and yes all are registered to me. The rifles and shotguns were handed down to me by my father.
