Why do some people think people should have the right to do whatever they want, except, join the military?

Why is it that some people act as if people do not have the right to join the military? These same people may have the right to get married to someone of their own sex though, that's acceptable, use drugs, protest naked in front of children, that's acceptable, but not serve their country in a way they see fit. Why is this the case?

I see them posting all the time. Insulting people who join, questioning their intelligence, saying the government is taking advantage of uneducated poor people, etc. It's degrading speech I think.

Joining the military is one of the most selfless and noble things one can do.

in what way? i know for a fact that i would get pissed if a nazi joined the marines, but if it was anyone else, they would find out what it takes. I would not be in their unit so i dont care

This is more of a statement than a question, but I agree 100%. I served with the 82nd Airborne and now serve to uphold the Constitution of the US.

They don't have the right to do those things (they only THINK they do) and that's the difference. Where getting married (even to same sex) is concern, THAT is a persons right. It is also free will as to whether someone wants to join the military and fight (or should I say die) for their country.

They're liberals who have gone insane from the years of living in massive cities that swarm with people doing all sorts of oddities. People accept the enviroment they grow up in, just look at cali. They're also pacisfists, feminitity and lack of confrontation has infilitrated the ranks America making them thin skinned cowards.

Who doesn't think people have the right to join the military? I've never seen these people.

Because that is our right! Joining the military is VOLUNTEER! Even if it wasn't I'd send my Sons to another country to avoid them fighting in a war that should never have been started! I don't trust our government and would not support my Sons going into another country to fight a war over oil and lies!!! If it were a real war over someone like Hitler, then it would be different! Our government was in on 911 as an excuse to fear us into giving up our liberties and start the war! I'm glad it has stayed volunteer, so we can CHOOSE not to participate!

People who say such things say they are against war and violence therefore those who "fight" (no matter for what cause) are seen as "unintelligent" or "brainwashed." It's hard for some people to believe that soldiers are the ones who are saving their asses.
