Who do i speak to about my baby dad not paying child support?

she was conceived when he was active he is not reserved in alabama,i have spoken to his first sergeant, and nothing was done,i have given all of his info to child support except his ssn,i have done everything, but it seems because he's in the military he is protected,my child is almost 2 yrs old i have been trying to get help since she was 3 days old,and still nothing,i'd like to climb the ladder, but i dont know who comes after the first sergeant, and after him and so on and so forth,i'd like to speak someone that can make things happen, but i dont know who that person would be,i am not military,i'm just a civilian, seeking direction.

Call the "First" and tell him that you are dissapointed and respectfully request a personal meeting with the Sergeant MAJOR to explain. Take EVERYTHING with you because you are going to be doubted unless you can back up your claim.

If the "First" declines simply say, "I wanted to keep this in the Family, but you have left me NO choice but to go to the District Attorney and you know where they are going to start. You also know that publicity flows DOWN HILL in a big way.

There is NO need for you to run up the chain because it is the "FIRST's DUTY to deal with this in a proactive manner.

If he stones you go to the DA.

Good Luck,
J

Glad to help and Merry Christmas.

maybe JAG(Judge Advocate General) office.

Contact any military legal affairs office.... army, navy, air force or marine corps. You'll get every last dime he owes you.

Can you say "lawyer". They'll cut through the red tape and make it right. He will owe enough back child support to pay for the lawyer, most likely. Even if he doesn't, you've seen how effective you have been on your own.

Hire a lawyer sweetheart!

Contact a private attorney. Jag probably will not help you because that is not really what they are there for. You need to have an adjudication of parentage and a support order. It's all civil law and has nothing to do with the military so you will dead end if you try to pursue it that way.

The laws covering child support are civil, therefore you must file in court and your lawyer can also file for his fee. You can even file without a lawyer, there are women's groups that will help you. Go to the county courthouse and ask for the papers to file for support, they will help you, every day that you wait, your child is being denied their rights.

You need to get a child support order from your local family court ordering him to pay. After that, ask that his check be garnished (the military takes these things seriously). Your local court should have an office called Friend of the Court, or something along those lines. Start there. Just call and ask about getting help pursuing a child support claim. If the State has paid out anything, they'll want to help so they can be reimbursed by him. You might have to get a private investigator involved if you want to find out his ssn. Good luck!
