The right to have guns?

Why are people allowed to have guns in the U.S? i think the military can only have guns. without having the right to buy a gun then everyone would be safe! no shootings,no school shootings,less people killed. i know its for defence but i think thats the stupidest law EVER

scratch wat i said, sry i never learned about ammendmants but, i think criminals should not have the right to have guns but people that are responsible like keeping it a secret from children. i think this is good. sry i didnt know!

Gun control only only works on law abiding citizens. Just like drugs, making them illegal will not keep them off of the street. Even in England where guns are illegal, criminals still obtain and use them in criminal acts.

In a survey I read in a "Police" magazine, the majority of U.S. Police Officers are FOR legal CCW's (Concealed Carry Weapons) and people arming themselves, including myself. I think the more law abiding citizens we have armed the less likely to become a crime statistic. Statistics show crime rates are down when legal CCW is up.

My opinion also includes keeping your guns locked in a safe or with a gun lock and not leaving them loaded in a shoebox for any curious child to find.

Responsible gun ownership is the key, and yes, there are laws for that.

Well if you think about it, even if the u s didnt sell it legally, people can still get guns illegally.

sounds an awful lot like one Adolf Hitler. Try reading the constitution, most importantly the 2nd amendment. Remember what happened when our gov't tried to take away free mans freedoms with prohibition? Imagine the chaos if they ATTEMPTED that with weapons? Not only Hitler was able to do what he wanted to with the people being unarmed, take a look at Russias history. And criminals will always have access to guns, while people like you will be at their mercy (none).

Apparently you failed to learn about your Country, and the Constitution, in that school that you may have attended. It is not a Law, but the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution that allows Legal American Citizens to own Guns.
Where guns are commonly carried in some States, you find that such killings do not occure. When the criminal wants to kill someone in those States, he has to wonder who nearby is carrying a gun, and will kill him. If he is not looking to die, it definitely does stop him from killing!

Wake up... the criminals would still have guns!

Shotgun preteen vs. illegal alien Home Invaders Butte, Montana November 5, 2006

Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11 year old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home.

It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana and Patricia had been a clay shooting champion since she was nine.

Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun.

Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old's knee crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals.

When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive.

It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen 45 caliber handgun he took from another home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David Burien, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds to the chest.

Ever wonder why good stuff never makes NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news....

Why do you want to take away my gun? I need it for protection, against bad people with guns. We live in a free country, we have rights to own guns. Why in the heck do you want to loose any more rights in this country. Hitler did the same thing with his government, look what happened. And if no one had guns, why would the military need them? to kill other people, in other countries, with guns? You will never get rid of guns in this country, by banning them. They are here for ever. We need laws, which allows more people to carry legally, to protect themselves and their families, from the bad people with guns. Who would go into a mall or a school to shoot people, knowing that every one else is packing heat?

I'll try to go over this a point at a time.....

At least up to this point, it is a constitutional right. The right is being eroded little by little, so it may be gone in the future.

This is a popular fallacy. Who do you think would have guns if they were illegal? Criminals. Do you think criminals would obey the gun law?

There are many who would like for all of us to believe that as well. I won't hold this against you since many are fooled in the very same way you have been.

Well this would be good if we could figure out a way to actually prevent just the criminals from having guns. Unfortunately, criminals by their very nature, do not obey the law. So why do you think they would obey any gun laws.

Once you pass laws forbidding guns, then only criminals will have the guns. And even then, if someone wants to kill someone, a gun isn't the only weapon available. Guns may be easier and quicker, but the majority of murders are crimes of passion where any weapon (or object that could be utilised as a weapon) would be used.

Guns are also not always the most lethal weapons. They are more spectacular though, which is why I think some mass killers are attracted to them. But, using an example of the recent school shooting --- how many people would have died if the killer had decided to use say poison gas in the ventilating system instead of a gun?
