What would you do if you got a DRAFT NOTICE in the mail today? |
I'm watching the movie Day Zero right now about the lives of 3 guys that got drafted. Three ordinary guys that opened the mailbox read the letter and found out they were to report in 30 days to the US Military and leave there careers, lives, routines, friends, love ones and pets behind. For this war, Id flee. If it was my boyfriend, I'd flee with him. (we live together and he feels the same way I do about this war). I dont have a brother, but if I did, I would support him no matter what he chooses to do. cry There is not going to be a draft, so you don't have to worry your pretty little head about it. I would go. It would be my duty. I would laugh at it and rip it up lol. I'm not being part of the most miss-managed war of our lifetime. Seek a deferment! I would step up and defend my country and all that resides here no hesitation. For the first time ever - I would gladly admit I am a Felon! Times like this, Im glad im not american ;) I laugh, tear it up and throw it in the garbage. Follow the directions. I would throw it away. It would not be real as there is no draft. Besides, I already served. send them my medical records showing my pre existing heart condition and harrington rod. unlike Bush I have LEGITIMATE reasons for not enlisting. Jump for joy, pack my bags, kiss the cat, and head for the airport. Use it to light my fireplace. I agree I'd cry I'd think it must be some kind of mistake. I am too old now to be drafted. I'd call down and straighten it out. Good Luck ! :) I'd laugh really freaking hard. What with being a famale and all of my own personal health issues, there's no way I'd ever really get drafted. Move to Canada Its a really terrifying and frightening thought. But...we really should have the draft again, because not enough young people (myself and my generation included) sacrifice for our country, and a year or two of required service would do us all some good. It seems like a death sentence in a time of war...but the ones who come back always seem to want to go back to be with their buddies. Maybe they know something we don't... I would go early, if possible. It would be an honor to fight for the greatest nation on Earth if they asked me to. send a letter to the draft board saying I'm a conscious objector. thankfully they don't draft people anymore. one can be a patriot without being willing to go to war. if all else fails, I'd move out of the country funny how the ones dishing out the orders, are the ones sitting behind their desks, in their cosy offices. I would tell them that I will fight if there is a reason for it. I don't think there is a reason for the fighting in Iraq. i would break my leg. no one should be allowed to say hey cmon your coming with me now, unless you done something bad and asre taken to the police station, but if your minding your own business, no sir. its wrong Send it back with a message. "Go fight your own f*cking war prick." I would be very surprised that at my age they would want me! The draft for Viet Nam was law at the time. Many of us joined to have a choice rather than sweat out getting drafted. I don't believe that I would get a draft notice but, I do not believe in the WAR we're in now I just might run... I'd probably be a little pissed, since I'm a freshman in college right now. But I'd probably go anyway...if I got out alive there'd be stories to tell my grandchildren. Well, to put this simple I wouldn't because i'm the only son to carry on my fathers last name. And the other reason is i'm a sinlge Father. |
