Corporate Regulation . . .? |
What if the government issued a code of ethics for the corporate behavior of publicly traded companies? Very similar in form to the medical or legal profession . . . where if you violate the code of ethics multiple times or have one severe transgression your license is revoked and you are no longer allowed to practice your profession . . .also financial penalties could be incurred . . . something along those lines . . .What if corporate board members and executives of companies that are "too big to fail" where subject to the same sort of concept in the future? Jack . . . that's why I said "very similar" I'm all for that idea. I thought that the SEC and FTC were already doing that, but I guess they weren't. America is a capitalist country. The government best keep out of corporations business (no pun intended). The American economy is self regulating despite its apparent ups and downs so government regulation only hampers the economy's success. Sure its ridiculous how wealthy some CEOs are but if the government were to regulate corporations the entire American system that makes this nation so great would fall apart. You would probably have no politicians left to make up a government. The medical and legal professions are self regulating, there is no government code. |
