Anyone familiar with ethics code?

What does it mean by the moral/ legal rights of others, with regard to research participation/activity?
Does not doing the debriefing, resulting the the participant being disillusioned result in violation their moral or legal rights?

It's a psychological research activity.
By not debriefing them, causing them to get depression, is it a violation of their moral rights?

It is difficult to answer our question since you seem to be talking about three different things.

Morals and values are what we acquire based on our experiences and those that influence our lives. Religious organizations have been largely involved in defining morals and values, but many social organizations have become instrumental in affecting morals and values as they have become more influential. Of course family has always been the most important influence on our morals and values.

Professional, business, civic, and government agencies may establish codes of ethics which their associates and employee are required to follow. Some states establish ethical codes for professional, business, civic and government agencies as well.

Legal rights are established by constitutions, legislatures and regulatory agencies.

Based on the foregoing, without knowing what particular group you are referring to, it is impossible to specifically responding to your question.

Nevertheless, if your question is whether it is a moral, ethical or legal violation when a participant in a research activity is not debriefed, would depend on the contract between the parties (which may result in a breach or contract, which is a civil action) and whether there are specific procedures that must be followed.

Failure to follow specific procedures may effect the validity of the research, but, would not necessarily be immoral, unethical or illegal.

Essentially.
Really it depends on what kind of activity you are having these people participate in.

I am familiar with psychological experiments so I am going to answer in that context, I would assume that it would be the same for you, as you are concerned with ethics and legal rights, regardless of whether or not you are talking about psychology.

The first thing you have to do is have them sign a consent form. This form should detail any risks that may be involved in your experiment, as well as whether or not their name will be kept confidential. It should also detail where the results will go after the activity. This does not necessarily have to tell them the AIM of the activity.

Second, you have to give them detailed instructions.

You then complete the activity, making sure that you stay within the realm of what you warned them would occur.

Upon the conclusion of your activity, you have to debrief them and tell them why you did what you did, how you did it, and what the ultimate goal was.

Ideally, you should make the results available to them after they have been calculated.

Ethics refers to the study and development of one's ethical standards. Feelings, laws, and social norms can deviate from what is ethical. It's necessary to constantly examine one's standards to ensure that they are reasonable and well-founded.
The need for special ethical principles is the same as the need for ethical principles in society as a whole. They are mutually beneficial and help make our relationships mutually pleasant and productive.

This is a hard subject Spica... BTW, I luv where you got your name and has something to od with a star in the Libran constellation.
Clever.....very clever !!!!
