If a landlord is humiliating you for several times in front of the other tennants, do you have legal rights?

If you have a verbal agreement to pay the rent at a specific date and he tries to force you to pay it sooner then that date by humiliation you in front of the other tennants, do you have the legal right to 'walk away'? So, to leave the house within the contract period

Hi. Thank you so for for all your answers.

I have one witness fo the verbal agreement, he is also a tennant of the home I live in

1- he has the right to kick you out IF you are not paying at all, but first he has to report to the local council
2- no one has the right to humiliate anyone at all at any time at any circumstances
3- he has no right to collect the rent anytime else than the time agreed on,
4- if you had to leave before a contract ends, you and your landlord have to submit this to a local councillor so everyone will calculate a sum of money that everyone thinks is fare

Is he from a different ethnicity that you are. This could qualify under "ethnic intimidation."

Also you have to make sure that what you consider "humiliation" might not be consider "humiliation" by the authorities.

Unfortunately a verbal agreement is not the best way to prove something. Try to arrange a moving date with him/her. Lawyers are costly. Be emotionally smarter than him/her and arrange a moving date in WRITING.

If he pulls that stuff, just remind him in front of the witnesses what the lease says. If you pay by the due date, there shouldn't be any humiliation.

If he slanders you, sue him -- it sounds like you have several witnesses.

If you have a lease, you shouldn't move out until the lease period ends. Otherwise you may still be liable for the rent.

First verbal agreements are not binding, it is your word against there's, why would you want a landlord that is not professional enough to bind you into a non legal contract?
If he forces you to pay ahead of time, then you have a choice pay or move..Your choice, He can't embarrass you if you don't live in his apartment or house.

Unless he slanders you before witnesses you have no case.

There's an old saying "verbal aggreements aren't worth the paper they're written on"- in law it's one person's word against another.

If you want to leave I suggest you pack up and go at 2am one morning, otherwise, pay the rent.

You should never break a signed contract, if you do YOU will be at fault, even if it other person is the one that created the conditions for it.

If they are being a nuisance then just report them, if it doesn't stop and If there are issues, you should talk with an attorney. If it is cost advantageous to you then sue them.

Thump the twat you mard pillock and walk out.thats why he humiliates you you have no bloody spine and expect somebody else (the law) to do what you should bloody do.

if its not stated on paper, it usually cant be held up in court...so if you pay by whatever date is stated in the contract(which is usually the day you moved in) there shouldnt be any legal consequences...

UK police regard this as "Verbal Harassment".

u can legally move
