The state is evicting us to landlord not doing inspection |
basically the borough has been trying to get in contact with the landlord for about six months. the house needs to be inspected. it has yet to be done. so if it is not done, then the house will be padlocked. now i was trying to move anyways. i got this letter around the beginning of july. so because of the letter i was forced to find a place and i did. i used july's rent to pay the deposit for the new place. the landlord left me a note saying i owe july's rent. am i still obligated to pay rent or is that lease now void?? i found out that the inspection was done but by then it was too late. i already found a place. the reason i didn't give proper notice was cause i was put in a jam saying i had till aug 15th You don't say who the letter was from or what it says. Assuming it was not from the landlord, you still owe rent until the building is padlocked (constructive eviction) or your landlord excuses you from the lease, or the landlord finds a person to replace you. |
