Landlord showing up illegally? |
The landlord has stuck up a notice saying "Viewings will be taking place between 10am -8pm each day after 1st April". In my opinion the notice is to vague and way to open, check with your local laws but in general most places will have frequency restrictions some only allow showings m-f 9 to 5 normal business hours The notice is considered 24 hour written notice, but he can't have viewings that you do not agree with. After 6 pm is not acceptable. Also, it isn't April 1st yet, so you had no obligation to let him show the apartment. By law, you can add a lock or chain to be used when you are home to avoid him letting himself in. You can't use that lock when you aren't home, unless you notify him that you have added a lock and that he is required to notify you when repairs will be made. It's a little bit of a gray area, but I wouldn't want someone in my apartment without me being there. Take note of his appearances and check your local laws. He sounds like a pervert landlord I had once. |
