How many hours can an employer make you work in a 24 hour period(wisconsin)? |
I work at a foundry we are scheduled 5 ten hour days, 8 hours on saturday, and now it seems we are scheduled every other sunday 8 hours.I found out this goes against wisconsin state labor laws. My question is how many hours a day can they make us work. I believe they can only make you work 80 hours every two weeks, but anything over 80 is overtime. IF you're getting overtime, you're basically agreeing to working those extra hours. I ran into the same issue back in 95 with my old employer and that's what I was told. There are times I've had to work 24 out of the 24 due to unusual circumstances, and no one said it was illegal, so I guess if you agree to it and there is no choice, like you'll be fired, then you just have to do it. I don't think any labor laws apply today in any state. 24 hrs |
