Why aren't teachers paid gratuity under Indian law?I mean do they get some other form of labor benefit ?

um...actually what i wanted to know was that when all employees who have rendered not less than five years of continuous service to their employers are entitled to get gratuity on retirement...why ONLY teachers have been expressly excluded from the gamut of the Payment of gratuity act????

According to the policy framers of this nation , teachers do not deserve Gratuity, Pension, Medical care (as reimbursement or allowance), cannot be allowed to have earned leave, shouldn't suffer from any illness( no medical leave is allowed to teachers), their parents or blood relatives shouldn't die( there's no leave on similar ground.....shradh etc.).I am simply stating a few items which are denied to teachers of almost all the state of India. There is not single state in India that has provided the minimum benefits as listed above. this is the only country in the whole world that observes a "Teachers' day". What else do the teachers need beyond that ? There are lot lip services every year on this day ......but, rest of the days of the year left to the mercy of Lord Shiva or Vishnu or Bhagwan. What else the Govt. can afford to do beyond this? The Leaders have to fill their pockets, make quotas/reservations , create more billionaires, prepare for next elections by creating wider vote banks. How much can they do for these useless lot , called "Teachers"?

why would they get gratuity? I don't understand your question a benefit would be free health care but no one gets that
