How do I fight my own union?

I am on the negotiating committee for our local bargaining group. Talks have been going well, and we are only 2 or 3 meetings away from finalizing a contract. Now another bargaining unit within the same local union at the same company may go on strike and our local labor leader has decided to get a mediator for our bargaining group. He has done this without consulting the negotiating committee. While I feel for the other bargaining group, I cannot support this unilateral action taken without my consent. Is there anything I can do, besides giving this guy a piece of my mind, to sabotage this action? I really feel that this is wrong and I am wondering what rights I have as a union member to stop this.
Thanks!

did he need a vote for it? if not, he has the power.

quit the union.

Unions have by-laws, we must obey those by-laws including if we disagree with how the majority votes on issues. Unions like any other associations have the legal right to set their own rules governing the conducts of their members using the "Not Withstanding "rule . You can agree to live under those rules, and make changes by running for Business Manager's office using a platform of "change" , you can make changes with your supporters consent. Or can quit union membership, and go work somewhere else.
