How can the Dept. of Labor help me with this issue?

I was promoted at work to be asistant manager and I was told that I would get a raise from 6.25 per hour to 7.00 per hour. For the time of 1 month of being assistant manager I never recieved that raise. Just recently I was reasured that I would get and and still I never did. Since I never receieved that raise I decided to quit. Can i receive unemployment due to that or is there some kind of legal action I can take to resolve the problem if they won't fix it. If you find any links that can help me please post them in your response.

If you quit you cannot collect Unemployment Insurance.

The Dept. of Labor is where you would go if you wanted to file for Unemployment Insurance.

You could go there, stand in line, talk to one of their counselors & see if they have any other sources to refer you to so you will get backpay for the time you worked as an Assistant Manager, but did not get the raise.

You'd probably be better off contacting the Equal Employment Opportunity Board in your area to see if they would follow through with your boss for you.

If you haven't quit yet - don't. Contact both the DOL & the EEO to see which agency could get you the better deal.

Once you put those issues behind you consider Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc; I do for lawyers what medical does for Doctors; click on the following link for more info:

They will get you the .75 cents an hour you were owed, if you can prove the raise. You quit so you're not getting unemployment. That's the best you're going to get and Dept of Labor doesn't cost money like a lawyer.
