Do I have a case against my employer? This question regards California Labor Laws involving minors.?

I鈥檝e been working at Panera Bread since June of 2006. At the time I was hired, I was 16 years old, and turned 17 a month later, making me a minor for the entire time I was working there(excluding July, 2007). Panera Bread has violated many California labor laws, such as not paying me overtime on the 7th day working, having me work more than four hours a day, working more than 40 hours during school, not providing lunch breaks or even those 10-minute breaks that are required for every four hours of work. I also haven't had a work permit since October of 2006 and I'm required to work past ten pm on school nights. With all the research I've done, everything I've listed is illegal.

Do I have a case? Better yet, is there any way to get them in trouble? (Websites containing places to contact would be really helpful)

File a complaint with the California Department of Labor; before you hire an attorney you have best to have kept notes to bring with you to the hearing.

if your just out for a quick buck no there are people with real complaints people that suffered cave-in in Utah that are dead now.
like the person above me pointed to a web address use it.

You could start by reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. With enough evidence they would probably exercise some sort of investigation and build a case against them.

Yes you do. Actually, it would probably be a class action lawsuit since these practices are probably widespread. I used to work for a couple of retail places where such suits were brought against them. Both times they settled out of court, and I got paid. The original people who brought on the lawsuits got paid even more. I'd just google class action lawyers in the area where you live and talk to someone. Although it usually takes years for these things to work their way through the courts. Go ahead and do it.

Yes you do The agency that enforces these very rules is the labor commissioner.

Get your time cards and all of your records. There is no fee involved good luck and let me know how it goes.

Find an office near you.
