Labor laws in Tennessee, please help?

does a company in tennesse have the right to work you as much overtime as they want, and as many days in a row that they want you to. I have checked the dol.gov and the tennessee dol and found nothing on either webite pertaing to this, any help would be nice.

There are laws concerning how many hours a minor can be worked, but not an adult.

However, as an adult, it's perfectly okay to tell your boss that you need to review your work schedule with the boss so that you can arrange to schedule home time and free time, also. Explain that you want to be a team player, but you feel you'd be much more effective if you started each shift well rested.

i dont think they are allowed to, dosnt it breach the human rights act?

In the State of Tennessee you are an "at will" employee. In a nutshell, the answer to your question is yes. Employers in this state are required to have a post publications from both the state and federal DOL. At my place of employment, those bulletins take up nearly a 4x8 space. In all those bulletins should be listed your rights as an employee. the Employee Polygraph Protection Act is an example. I hope this helps.

Thats good advice Stuart. May i also suggest that when you sign an At will employment agreement and you do not fully understand all the regulations pertaining to labor within your state, but must sign your agreement before you can be gainfully employed. That you also write the words "without prejudice" above and below your signature. I highly advise that you follow these simple instructions. Also check to see if your employer has the USERRA and OSHA postings up next to all the other required postings as well. most establishments i have performed services in believe it or not, do not. This even includes Union sites as well.
