Labor laws... can anybody help me??? |
in tennessee my partner works at a residential treatment facility and is being 'required' to work six 12 hour shifts in a row (with) overtime pay.. but isnt there a law that prohibits mandatory overtime? i thought it was voluntary.. am i wrong? there was never any talk of mandatory overtime. in fact, she told her employer she would only be able to work the morning shift from 8-4 and no more than 40 hours a week. there was a verbal agreement from her employer on that. for the past 3 weeks she has been told she is required to work these consecutive 12 hour shifts. her last paycheck was a little over $600 for 102 hours. how is that right? Here ya go: My sister had a similar problem and had to quit her job because of it. She has a 5 year old who has to be picked up every day. The company lost out because she ended up getting a better job, anyway. Good luck to you! Report It If a person is being paid overtime there is no law that says he is not allowed to work, mandatory overtime? he should be happy! It is only 72 hours a week. I work in the film industry and my guarantee for a week contract is 60hours. If I only work 72 I will be happy. As far as I know, there are some jobs that require overtime..thus being called mandatory overtime. |
