Labor laws for 15 year old?

how many hours can a 15 year old work during one shift? and how many hours for the whole week?

i live in Minnesota

Minnesota law:
For minors who are under 16 years old, there are hour restrictions. These minors may work between the hours of 7 AM and 9 PM (newspaper carriers may work earlier) and a maximum of 8 hours per day. They are not permitted to work during school hours or without an employment certificate.

US federal law are also applicable:
Ages 14 and 15)
鈥?not during school hours
鈥?not before 7 a.m. or after 7 p.m. (except
9 p.m. from June 1 through Labor Day)
鈥?not more than three hours on a school
day (including Fridays)
鈥?not more than 18 hours in a week
(Sunday through Saturday) when school
is in session
鈥?not more than eight hours a day on any
nonschool day
鈥?not more than 40 hours a week (Sunday
through Saturday) in nonschool weeks

It depends largely on the state you are in.

In California, it used to be that a 15 year old was limited to 3 hours on a school day, no later than 7:00 pm on a school night. The limit was 8 hours on a non-school day, and 10:00 pm on a non-school night.

If my memory serves correctly!

A 15 year old can work for 8 hours but must be approved by the Department of Labor.

You are talking about in the U.S.? It depends on whether or not school is on right now. I assume the teen is in school right now. A fifteen year old may not work more than 3 hours on a school day or 18 hours in a school week.

But there may be state laws too with greater restrictions.

Depends on your state, or where you live... I know that in mine they must have working papers, can't work more than 20 hours during the school year, not after 10:00 pm, not before 6:00 am, on the weekends can work any shift as long as between 6am and 10pm as many hours as desired. Must have a break every 4 hours.
