California labor laws lunches and breaks.?

ok, let me go into detial i just recently started this new job, love it the department i work in gives me my breaks and lunches..no complaint. but recently i've had to work in a different department because of shortage of people. i've noticed that in that department they do not receive any breaks @ all...and i remember that those were mandatory breaks. so i looked it up..and i found that, if you don't receive those breaks you get 1 hour of pay for each day..so then i tell my co-workers in that department. and some of them have never gotten a break in the years that they've worked there..i am not sure but could they get back pay for those years...i know a old company of mine they were in a lawsuit about these breaks. and they had to pay all employess back pay. but i was just wondering how do i go about it? me and my co-workers would like to know. and if it is even possiable.
thanks

What happened with the suit you were trying to file last month? I have only been reimbursed for a weeks worth, but that is because I did not go and wait several years and then try to go behind their backs or followup with a civil claim. I simply brought it to their attention within the first few days and it was fixed the very next week. Honest mistake makes for an honest fix. You make it sound so dilatory.

*/End of Line.

I would say definitely report it. If possible, hire a labor law attorney. Their expertise will come of great value to you and your co-workers.
