Kansas Labor Laws?

What (or where can I find) information on compensation for hourly employees working over 40 hours a week? What are the laws regarding time and a half pay?

Check back in a few minutes and I should have the statutes for you, but...it is Kansas law that employers must post a poster that gives employees information on their various rights (workers comp, hours, pay, etc.). That poster has the various statutes on it.

Ask your employer where that poster is.

Depends - hourly employees must be paid overtime (or 1.5 X rate of pay).
Salaried employees -- can work til they drop and never see a dime of overtime.

Kansas Minimum Wage and Overtime Law (K.S.A. 44-1201 et. seq.)

Guarantees a minimum wage of $2.65 per hour for workers 18 years of age and older. Overtime pay is required after 40 hours of work in a work week. Employees and employers who are covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which is Federal law, are not covered by this law.

State law states that overtime is due once an employee has worked 46 hours within a week. Federal law states that overtime is due once an employee has worked 40 hours within a week.
