Have labor unions greed caused them to lose sight of their original purpose? |
Have labor unions greed caused them to lose sight of their original purpose? I believe the labor unions at one time had their place in the workplace of the American Worker, However, today greed of the labor unions has been a great downfall of this nations industry. We have had many large employers move to Mexico, Canada, and China to find cheaper labor in order to be able to compete in todays market. The only reason foreign cars cost the amount they do is the tariffs imposed to ship and sell them in the United States. Don't get me wrong, I believe everyone is entitled to pay to survive and maybe get a little ahead in savings, but in some cases this has gotten way out of hand. When CEO's are making hundreds of millions a year this is wrong. But when a auto worker is making 45 an hour to put on lug nuts, it is no wonder the cars can be made cheaper somewhere else. No more than business greed! The unions are shrinking because many the members don't like their dues given to a political party or an issue that they don't agree with. The only unions that are growing are the public service unions--Fire, Police, Teachers, Prison Guards. |
