Help!! labor law violations?

I was hired as a FT employee in a doctors office. My boss is going away for one month on vacation; therefore, her office will be closed to patients. My office manager has informed me that I will only be able to work a maximum of 20 hours a week, is this legal? Also, since my boss prints out our paychecks from home bi-weekly, we won't be recieving any paychecks until she comes back. Instead of getting paid every other monday, I won't be paid for a whole month. Is any of this illegal?

I am not an expert, but I posed a question to askalawyer.com a while back and they sent me whole bunch of links to try. I am waiting for an answer to my question.
I don't think the pay thing is legal, but the hours thing might be. Full time can really be any amount of hours. I have worked part-time hours that ran all the way up to fourty. It depends upon how long you work the hours. IE forty for one week may still be part time, but forty for six months may be considered full time depending on state law.
good luck

Agree with above. In some states, like Tx, You would be entitled to unemployment benefits because of the reduction of hours. Note: I do not know how these "insurance" benefits would actually effect your boss' bottom line and in turn your employee/ employer relationship. Report It

i think it is seek legal advice

hope this helps"

Your best contact to answer this question is the Federal Wage and Hour Division of the Bureau of Labor. There should be one local to where you live or in your state.
check the site below.

Check the second site below. It shows exactly how often you are to be paid under state laws. In Connecticut, it is weekly and in Pennsylvania, minimally once a month.

the alternative may be to lay you off for the month. employers can cut hours based on the needs of the business. will you still get your full time benefits (like medical, etc)? the late pay thing is tricky. you can ask for an advance. since this is a one time occurrence, the government probably wont do anything. it sound like you will have only one paycheck delayed for two weeks. its not great, but its not the end of the world. hang in there.
