California Labor laws- Minimum hours paid? |
Is there a minimum requirement to how many hours an employer has you work or can a shift be as small as they would like? If so, where can I find the code for this law? I've been searching for the past two hours for an answer to this question in the state of CA been going page by page through labor code website. Still nothing about it. I get scheduled 5 days a week 2 - 3.15 hour shifts. Lame beyond belief if there isn't a law there should be one. My whole days consumed because I have a 2 hour shift to work. Can't make any other plans. Your state legislature would be a good source, also there may be federal labor laws that would supersede state laws. You might want to check with the EDD but I believe a person can work any minimum number of hours if agreed upon ahead of time. If called in for unscheduled work it is 4 hours that they are obligated to pay you for even if you don't work the full 4 hours. |
