Teen Labor Laws???

I am working at a kids camp this summer and the pay is ridiculously low! I feel like this is unfair and unjust but I already agreed to this job for one month. I understand that there is this whole minimum wage thingy in California but there is no possible way to get this camp to oblige to this whole "thingy." Because this is how it has been for many years and they won't be willing to change it. The problem is that its way less than then the minimum wage in California and its not just me who is getting paid less its also my friends who work at other camps too. I'd like to hear your opinions, although I doubt my camp will pay me more. But let me just give u a very important detail I'm 14 years old and by the way this alll the information I'm handing out. I'm stuck in a huge dilemma so I want your opinions!!!! What do you think?????

There are some businesses that are exempt from the minimum wage laws, check and see if the kids camp is one of them. I'm thinking they are, but I'm not sure.
If they aren't charging you for room and board and food then that's considered part of your pay as well.
It isn't a huge dilemma, it's only a month, not a life time and now that you know what they pay, you don't have to ever take that job again.

Go onto the US Dept of Labor's website - they have all of the particulars there. But if I recall (I am not at work right now, so I don't have access to my info), due to your age, they don't have to pay you the federal minimum wage that adults get. There are some alterations to the laws for those from ages 16 to 18, and those under the age of 16. The website will spell them out for you.
