Michigan Labor Laws?

I have been working for the same employer for 7 yrs as customer service. We have always gotten paid hourly and very minimal commissions. This morning we were presented with an hourly pay decrease of $2.00 and our commissions were increased. In order for me to still make weekly what I have been making I have to bring in 40 sales a week (average sales a week total for our office is 30) Is this legal?

Yeah, money problems are my boss paying $28,000 in advertising with a company that just started up this month.

Yes it is.
Gross Compensation (which includes salary, commission, and other taxable benefits) can be reviewed and changed by the employer. Most often, the change takes place in the balancing of the the percentages allocated to each piece of the package (like yours - reduce salary percentage, but increase commission percentage).

Commissions are usually a percentage of the 'sale' value. You seem to think this means more sales per week ... it could also mean more 'high end' sales, resulting in a larger chunk for each sale. (For a given percentage commission, you'd only have to make one sale at 10000 to make the saem money as 10 sales at 1000).

Hate to say it but it is legal, but not ethical. Your company has a poor organizational culture. Are they having money problems?
