California Labor Law Question: California?

Can a company leagally force you to work over your eight hour shift or be fired?

Please give a web link to something stating this is or isn't right, thank you.

It is up to the employee and employer to work out how many hours you are going to work. California law merely states that if you work more than 8 hours, you need to get time and a half.

Yes.
The labor laws in Cali are so vague that when this has been challenged in the courts in the past, the businesses win except for extreme cases... like making someone work 60 hours or not paying them the required time and a half.

I'd suggest writing your congressional members for a more set standard on this issue.
