Michigan labor laws-unpaid break times.? |
I work at a facility that automatically takes out 30 min lunch times if you work more that 6 hrs. whether you've taken a break or not, and the position that I'm in, I'm not allowed to leave the building and if anything happens while i'm on break (which occurs almost on a daily basis) I'm expected to inturrupt my break and help the situation and then continue my break sometime later in the night...if time allows. I don't think that it's right that they can automatically not pay me for that time when I don't usually get a full 30 min break...especially an uninterrupted one. Where can I find out the laws regarding this? Help! your employer is only required to pay you for the number of hours worked.. If you don't get a break then they have to pay you for those hours.
