Can I become a cop with felonies on my juvenile record? |
I was wondering if I could become a cop, I got in trouble with the law when I was 14, and was charged with 3 felonies and a couple misdemeanors in Nevada. My probation officer said that my record would be clean when I turned 18 which I am now, but I have heard that my record won't get cleared, and with felonies I know I can't be a cop. Thanks for your time. You will be asked about your ENTIRE criminal history. Best to be open and honest. Your best bet is to check with your current state laws. I know for careers in the medical field, a felony will prohibit you from that career - so its possible I guess. If you have in writing that your record would be sealed, or any proof of it, I would contact an attorney if it has not been done. A lot of Cops have juvenile records (I know a few). I don't know if there is a limit to how many felonies or not. But I hope you get the opportunity to. It's great to see you have changed your life around! More power to you! |
