2 juveniles burglarized my home last october, i caught them after they had already made 2 trips? |
they stole around $4000 worth of cash and personal belongings. the victims advocate fund never got back to me( some of the stuff was college funds and materials) is there someone i can call in melbourne florida, that can tell me when i'll receive restitution? an agency name, anything? You did have them arrested right, or at least had the police come and inventory and document the incident right. If you then follow-up, and file a case against the families, and the juveniles. You have to do so before the statutes of limitation expire. after the case is heard contact a collections office and show the amount owed to you. You'll need the police reports and inventory. They'll assess the value and the judge will decide what is owed. After the judgment. show the ruling to the collectors and the state of Florida can and usually does garnish it from the parents and juveniles (if they work). You need to take them to court and obtain a judgment. And I don't think you can count on them paying anything till they turn 18, if then. You can SUE their PARENTS. I would find out their names and sue their legal guardians or parents. Call the victims fund again too. Bug them til they talk to you. |
