Do I have to listen to my parents if I'm 18 and on Juvenile Probation? |
I just turned 18 and I hate listening to my parents. I want to spend the night at my friends tonight but my parents say no. If i'm not out past curfew and remain within my probation terms can I pretty much tell em to f off? let me set this straight. the reason i'm on probation in the first place is for moving out and pissing them off because they wanted to control me. now i'm a good kid. i got A's and i'm graduated and i have a job. i've been doing excellent at home and i get along with my parents and they let me do stuff but they never let me spend the night even though my p.o. says that its fine as long as i'm in by curfew. its at my best friends who they like and even my p.o. likes. A standard condition of juvenile probation is "You shall live with and obey your parent(s) and/or guardian(s) in all matters." That means all they have to do is call your probation officer if you fail to do as they direct, as long as it is a lawful and reasonable command. Look here hommie.....Your 18teen a legal man. Juvenile will assign you a to adult probation. since your 18 you don't need to listen to your parents. but that depends do you think that your old enough to live on your own and do everything your self. when you don't listen to parents, its like saying i don't need you. but is that how you really feel. ITS ALL UP TO YOU. I'm 24, and when I finished college at 21 I moved back home...I lived there for 2 years and during that time I couldn't smoke bud, see my friends that they didn't like, or drink. Contracts 101. Read the terms of your probation. It likely gives parents authority to set rules and the consequences if you don't follow them. Grow up. Unless you want to move out of your parents house, they can set any rules and regulations they want on you and your life. If you live in their house, then you will have to abide by their rules or move out. yeah that sounds like your 18th birthday brought with it all the wisdom you need to last the rest of your years. Too bad, move out. are you mature enough to handle your self?? that's the question.. Hell no... If I were you I'd move the hell out, get a job and support my self.. that would show those meanies... Ok maybe with the additional stuff you wrote my reply doesn't exactly fit you. However, a lack of respect for your parents is a major deal. Even if you are doing as well as you say. For one they are still providing a lot for you, the bills you pay are not near what it costs to be out on your own. In most parts of the real world being age 18 if you do not meet the terms of your probation you will go to jail. |
