Rehabilitation of juveniles? |
Do you feel that violent juvenile offenders are able to be transformed during their adjudication process? Or, do you feel that adjudicated adolescents get worser (behaviorally) while incarcerated? I recently retired after working 31 years for the California Youth Authority and in my expierence I have seen everything from total failure too a high rate of success. During my career I saw young men go on too successful careers in the military where the kid in question retired as a lieutenant Cournal and another became an oceanographer at Scripps Institute in San Diego where he was in charge of all the data coordination for Jaques Cousteau the oceanographer who had his own TV show. Johnny Mathis the singer was another person that I worked with as was Buster Douglass the Boxer who fought for the heavyweight championship. Others are likely too go on too do most of their lives in one Prison or another. I would say that like anything in life it depends on the strength and charector of the individual. |
