How to go about expungement of juvenile records?

I'm wondering about the process of expungement. I had a juvenile record (I was 12, i made a threat..yaddayadda). Now that i'm an adult, I want to get the record expunged (Obviously it has been 5 years atleast since the date of my offense) Do i contact a lawyer or how do i go about it?

Lol apparently people on here are jealous and pathetic, I'm asking a serious question and I don't need your garbage. Sorry you're ugly.

I'm already 18, but when I applied to work with a prison, it came up in my background check and i lost the job because of it. I called my old probation officer, and she told me I need to have it expunged because they no longer do that. I live in NJ.

Get a lawyer and tell him what you want to do. He will ask you to compile some info (examples that demonstrate to the judge why you aren't a risk for repeating the offense). Examples: Job history, community activities, responsibilities, character references. They you will go before the judge and make your request.

Your record will wipe clean once you turn the legal age of an adult for your state.

There is nothing you can do after the fact to get something expunged. An arrangement has to be made at the sentencing for something to be expunged from a record.

You should look into the state laws for the area of the offense. Some states automatically wipe your record clean after a certain amount of time. I would look into the state offices. If worse comes to worse you could always just contact a lawyer.

CALL THE DEPT OF JUSTICE AND ASK THEM FOR A COPY TELL THEM YOU WANT TO HAVE IT REMOVED OR EXPUNGED AND THEY WILL SEND YOU THE PAPERS THEN ALL YOU DO IS WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN THAT YOU WANT TAKEN CARE OF THEN HAVE IT SIGNED OFF BY THE POLICE DEPT THEN SEND THE PAPERS BACK IN TO THE DEPT OF JUSTICE THEY WILL REMOVE IT FOR YOU HOPE I HELPED GOOD LUCK

juvenile records get expunged when you turn 18

I yiyi, from your avatar I think you might get into a few more problems in the future, so why bother?

It's not public anyway - why go through the hassle?
