Pro or agianst juvenile death penalty and why? |
i need peoples opinions on what they feel and explain why they feel this way You do the crime you have to do the time!! An eye for an eye!! I am for it!! 100% why should I pay my tax dollars to keep scum alive? Against. Actually, the US Supreme Court decided that it is unconstitutional to execute someone for crimes committed as a juvenile. The case was Roper v Simmons, in 2005. Here is an excerpt from the Court's decision: I am against Juvenile death penalty , because children under the age of 16 (and even at 16) are still learning and developing . They need guidance , and most who have committed a crime that warrants the death Penalty have mental issues that need to be resolved. Everyone Child and adult should have a chance to improve their lives, before we put them down like dogs. I am for it, but with very strict limitations and only in cases of extreme violence. It is hard to believe that anyone thinks it's a good idea to execute children. I think parents should do the time for their children's crimes. Then they would be more concerned with how their children are developing. Pro in certain conditions. im against it. and i dont think kids should be tried as adults either. it doesnt make sense. the DA will take a 12 year old and make him out to be a fully functional rational adult who knew exactly what he was doing if the kid is accused of killing somebody. but if that same little boy goes to school and sleeps with his hot blonde teacher the DA tries to make him look like a baby. like he had no idea of what he was doing and how he was such a victim. the reality is that its not about truth or logic, its about convictions and money. killing chilldren is just wrong. simple as that. Im against it. There is scientific proof that an adolescent brain does not function like that of an adult, and therefore should not legally be held to the same standards of an adult. They may commit a crime at 12, and not understand the ramifications of it, but fully comprehend the wrongness of their actions at age 21. |
