What is meant by court unification? What are some implications of court unifications for juvenile offender?

First, you have to know about court fragmentation. Because some cases required certain emphasis or expertise, courts were created just to deal with them: juvenile court, bankruptcy court, tax court, small claims court, domestic relations court.

The problem: Each court's jurisdiction is narrow, and sometimes overlaps another court's jurisdiction.

Rather than have all these tiny pieces of the pie, court unification wants to mash them back together into one big type of court again.

Implications: Without juvenile courts and their special emphasis on juvenile offenders, children who break the law will have to deal with the larger, more impersonal ADULT justice system.

Yuck.
