Can I be sued for violation intellectual property rights? |
This guys website had no saying of it being protected so I bought his program off his siteand i sold it on ebay. He is saying he has intellectual property rights, but in the package that I bought from him it is nowhere implied nor on his website that he has IP. How many copies did you sell? If you physically sold the 1 copy you bought, and removed any trace of it from your system then that should be legal. If you sold multiple copies then you have violated implied copyright laws. My suggestion is that you stop trying to rip off people, unless the files and or documents say they are listed under CC or GPL you don't have any right to resell it. Sadly yes you can be, but its a costly issue, simply becai=use a Copyright stamp isnt used doesnot imply that the originator relinquishes any rights over the material, the material is not yours and should not be sold on without his authority.... You should have assumed it is copyrighted material! |
