Can humanity progress more without it ? Sure, if we think that stealing to get ahead is progress. No. Human development does not depend on infringing on the rights of someone elses work. No, in fact humanity would not ever have progressed as far without IP rights. The desire to invent new things is driven mainly by the knowledge that you can make money off of your invention because of IP rights. |
