Intellectual property is a broad term referring to legal entitlements or rights to intangibles, such as information, formulas, ideas, discoveries, literary works, and artistic expressions. Patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets are types of intellectual property.

It is a very broad term that coule relate to many things what are you thinking of?

IP is rights you have to something intangible. An example is a sitcom idea.
