Is my name my own intellectual property? Shouldnt I get a cut if someone sells my name to someone else? |
Like record companies do with songs? No, your name is NOT your personal property and anyone can use it. However, once your name acquires property rights, such as a trademark recognition, or is used commercially for advertising, you may have certain rights to restrict others from using it to their advantage (coat-tailing on your fame) without paying you. You should register it first with the patent office. |
