Can I register a trademark or any intellectual property online?

For example a name of a website or a blog, a writing or a composition perhaps?

Yes. here are the government websites:

http://www.uspto.gov/

http://www.copyright.gov/

These sites are the official word, and they have FAQ sections. But generally, a trademark is for a name or logo (Coca-Cola, the McDonald's golden arches) while copyright is for a work (a book, record, movie, play, etc.)

Again, go to the source. The procedure is not terribly difficult. Some people have attorneys do this for them (and patents are especially tricky - one needs specialized attorneys), but I leave that up to you.

Good luck!

A name of a website/blog can be protected by a trademark and the name can be registered - provided you did your searches and it is not already claimed as a mark. If you are in the U.S, this is done through the USPTO office - see the link below.

Writing/composition is protected by copyright. Your rights are automatic but you CAN register copyright if you wish. Anyone from around the world can do this (for a relatively low fee) through the US Library of Congress - link supplied below.

Hope it helps
