LimeWire and Copyright help PLEASE?

I found this on www.limewire.com:

Copyright laws and laws pertaining to patents and inventions protect original works of authorship and inventions. Individuals who reproduce, distribute copies, receive copies, publicly perform or display works or inventions other than their own and without the consent of the owners or holders of rights, or their authorized agents, in original works of authorship or inventions, may be in violation of copyright, patent or other intellectual property infringement. Lime Wire LLC does not encourage or condone the illegal copying of copyrighted material. This is not intended to be legal counsel or advice. If you have any questions, consult your attorney.

What does it mean? If you download copyrighted material on LimeWire are you sure to be doing an illegal thing or only if you make copies of the download and sell it. It says "that may be in violation of copyright, patent or other intellectual property infringement." It says "may be". So: legal or illegal?

Can you also please tell me anything else you know about copyright or copyright infringement

it's a disclaimer to protect them from being sued for your actions.

IF YOU STEAL SOMEONE"S COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL WITHOUT PAYING FOR IT< YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW.

see google if you want "everything"

see chillingeffects.org, eff.org and copyright.gov for the basic facts.
