China trade relations? |
Ok, so this week the Justice Department announces a case of Economic espionage with 4 suspects working for China stealing trade secrets and intellectual property from Boeing, etc. Isn't this grounds for revoking "normal trade relations" with China (formerly known as most favored nation status)? Are we held hostage to them now that we need their cheap products and money to finance our national debt? Jef, I hear you, but the Peoples Republic of China was on the receiving end of this spy ring and the operatives stated in documents that the information was provided for the good of the"mother land". It has to be proven first and when proven that the espionage case was done by the country and not a company, then that is the time a case can be built with regard to economic relations with China. Have you looked around your house lately at the number of products that you possess that are either made in CHina or contain parts or materials exported from China (Including the computer you wrote your question on). So, yes we are held hostage as long as we continue to consume more than we produce. I would have thought that the massive dog food and toy recalls would have been enough to revoke it. |
