Copying a birth certificate illegal it says on paper?

My son's birth certificate say's not to copy by any means

How am I supposed to give a copy to my husbands job for the insurance?

How am I supposed to give a copy to the medicaid office since they need one? If that's illegal how do they expect people to do this?

I don't know where the birth certificate was issued, but most areas now issue them with security features similar to bank notes/paper money. If you feel the original you may find 'raised printing' or other features that would not show up on a copy. A copied certificate would feel smooth, for instance, when on a real one you would feel the printing. Same as for driver's licences, etc. Also, some of the printing will not show up on a copy. It's to prevent people from presenting fake or copied certificates as if they were real. OK??

For insurance, it is ok to just copy and send the copy in. But, for school and getting a driver's license for the first time, you need your certified copy, but they give it back- know what they do? They make a COPY of it!!!! If your medicaid office insists on a certified copy, then give it to them and request it back, because they will just make a copy same as the schools do.

photocopy it and give it to them. It's common to have to submit a copy for these types of things.

it's probably only illegal to copy it and use the copy, not the original.

just be careful, and keep track of copies, shred any extras or whatever because that info (along with a few others) in the wrong hands can lead to identity theft.

even though this is slightly different mine says it's illegal to laminate it.

Mine does not say it is illegal to copy. Some people require a certified copy, but if they do not then make copies.
