How do I speak in traffic court to make sure someone doesn't beat a ticket? |
A man hit my car and was cited with improper backing. I found out that he has court tomorrow morning and I want to go to make sure that he doesn't beat the ticket. I've found out that this bonehead not only is trying to fight the ticket, but he has told his insurance company a LIE and said its my fault and he's also obtained a lawyer and he's trying to claim injuries. This minor accident happened in a parking lot and I was at a complete stop when he backed out of parking spot and hit me. He is NOT injured and I want to make sure he doesn't get his citation dismissed. What do I say? Do I stand up with the cop? Well...you should DEFINITELY go to court. If you see the policeman there, let him/her know that you're the "other party" in that case. If not, but prepared to politely stand up and tell the judge that you are the other party, and that you would like to testify as well. You should have called your insurance company, since they are potentially "on the hook" for his injuries...they'd probably have told you exactly what to do. i'd go to the court, speak to the prosecutor or police officer that will be testifying there and let them know your there to give witness for the states case if needed. odds are tho the cop has your statement.. plus the results of his investigation.. the cop is impartial.. the cop charged him not you.. .. judges tend to go with the cops.. unless the defender can prove the cop is wrong. wouldnt hurt to show up tho.. just make sure you contact the prosecutor/cop so they know your there. i'd defiantly go up there and try to talk to an officer and see what they think and at least be there to see how things go.. i would also ask them about him lying to his insurance just to make sure you wont be affected by that... tell the court he's racist and kicks puppys |
