How do I describe my misdemeanor on my UK fiance visa application?

Please, for those who knows about UK visas.

My misdemeanor happened 9 years ago. It was for failure to appear in court. Was pulled over for minor traffic violation but given no ticket. However, I didn't have proof of insurance on me and so I was told to appear in court and show it. (I had insurance) I moved out of state soon after this and so I didn't go. I didn't even realize it was a misdemeanor or that a warrant was issued, as I was never contacted by the police department about it.

9 years later, as I'm finishing my UK Fiance Visa application, I call the state to be sure just what happened. Was told a warrant had been issued, but it became invalid after 4 years. No fees owed now and no one has asked me to go to court in the future.

On application, it asks about convictions, charges, court dates, etc. What do I say exactly to explain why I never went to court? Do I explain everything on the application that I just did above? Or will that just make it look bad?

Thanks

This is kinda tricky. I've heard that most convictions won't show up on your record after 7 years, however, that's just for your run of the mill criminal history check. This would be an international immigration issue and that may trigger a more thorough investigation. I think you should just be honest about it. It isn't as though you killed anyone - you just got a traffic ticket. As long as your record since has been spotless it shouldn't be an issue for you. Good luck!
