Showing proof of insurance in california court? |
if you get pulled over and only have temporary cards in the car, then go to court with the permanent one that was mailed out later will the judge know if the policy was cancelled for non-payment? or is he going to just want to see the card and thats good enough for him? card is good for one year. i know the ins. co. notifies the dmv if you get cancelled. It is very doubtful that he would check with the company if you have the card. The legal question is, were you insured at the time of you were stopped? if you were you are not guilty and will not have to pay a fine. In some states you can take your proof to the Clerk of the Court and show it and avoid court. I'm surprised the cop ticketed you if you had the temporary card with you. Very unusual. He will accept it at the court hearing...(actually u may just be able to show it to the clerk) but, the problem will be when it hits Sacramento if u r in California..not sure about other states.. I've gone through the similiar thing -- still a little bit painful, here is the resource help me out.http://car-insurance.easyideas4u.info/ca... |
