If I have liability only car insurance in Texas, and someone who does not have insurance hits me, who pays for |
repairs? or pays me for the worth of it? This hasn't happened yet. I have an older car and my wife drives the newer (fully covered) one. Texas has a large problem with uninsured motorists, so I am considering upping my insurance on the older car. the700, I recommend you locate a local car insurance agent to help. Since I live in Delaware I can't suggest an agent in Texas, but here is an online resource that can help you. http://www.easyautoinsuranceguide.com/Te... Liability coverage means that the insurance covers damage you do to someone else. Comprehensive (Collision) coverage would cover you if you had uninsured driver protection. But if you odn't have collision and the person who hits you isn't insured, you aren't covered by insurance. your only bet is to sue the person who hit you and hope they have money. Don't bet on it. the person who pays is the one who drives negligently and causes the harm. If you are hit by an uninsured motorist, and you do not have UIC coverage, then you have to sue that person, get a judgment and then try to collect on the judgment. Talk to your agent about UIC coverage. The person who is at fualt is the one who has to pay. If he doesn't have insurance he has to pay from his pocket somehow. You are going to have to sue him for it if he refuses. When you do sue him you have to prove that he is 100% at fault. Good luck with whatever you do Do you have "uninsured motorist coverage" if not , why? |
