What do I need to do to be covered for Short Term Disablity Insurance after giving birth???

What do I need to do to be covered for Short Term Disablity Insurance after giving birth???

All you need is a paper from him saying you gave birth and when you can return back. Your HR department will help you with the paperwork. You should be entitled to @ 8 weeks paid for time off.

i cannot imagine insurance coverage that would consider childbirth as a disability. if you are looking for time off work to be with your child, but want to make sure that does not put your job in jeopardy, you may qualify under the federal family leave and medical act (FMLA) the law allows you to take up to 6 months leave to care for yourself or a family member who has a serious health condition requiring time off work. the time following the birth of a child also qualifies. the law does not require pay or pay replacement for the leave period. if you have paid leave time through your employer for part of all of the time you need, you can certainly use that. the law simply protects your job position up to 6 months leave. your employer cannot fire you or remove you from the position during the protected period. you should ask you work HRD or other appropriate person for the forms you need to complete to qualify. hope you and your new baby enjoy the time.

A policy that considers delivery to be a short term disability (most don't) or an actual disability resulting from the birth.

Did you have the short term disability prior to giving birth? If so, contact your carrier- they can walk you through it.

You need to already have it before you need it....So get apolicy going before you need it.

A short term disability policy.

Giving birth isn't a disability - it's normal. So you are not covered.

short term disability does not cover maternity leave, sorry
