How can insurance companies?

how can insurance companies have different rates for sex/gender but not for race?

tracey you are wrong

Their policy's -- they get to set the conditions.
You get to decide weather or not to buy from them.

Insurance companies in my state can't do that due to Title IX (Title 9). Thier rates have to be the same for both females and males. What can effect the rate is age, location, education, school grades, marital status, etc.

I would expect it to be the same in the other 49 states as well.

Statiscally, however, females have a lower accident rate than males. Since they are a lower risk, insurance companies have in the past charged lower rates.
