If you are at fault in an accidnet and got a ticket then why would you go to court to fight it?

What can you say so that you dont get the ticket? Because i was involved in an incident where i got rear ended and the other person got a ticket and is going to court againtst the city for the ticket and i have been requested to go as a witness why are they going to court? Can they say anything that would make it my fault?My car is already fixed and the insurance took care of it. I just dont know why they would go to court instead of just paying the ticket? And also why I have to go?

I got in an accident once and the police officer told me not to just pay the ticket but to go to court. I asked him why, as it was clearly my fault, and he said it is to protect you from a civil suit from the other people. Hope this answered your question.

If you have been simply "asked" to go an testify, you don't have to. If you have been subpoenaed, you do.

Basically, his summary offense case will have nothing to do with your involvement in the accident. I have never contested a ticket for an accident, but I always show up at court for traffic offenses instead of just paying them because the judge can modify the fine and/or points and show a little leniency.

If you feel like being a swell guy, don't show up if you weren't subpoenaed, it may help the other person avoid part of a fine or some points on his license.

It could be that they want the tickets removed from their record. By claiming it as incorrect citation given to them at the scene. They may also want to contest that they are not guilty of the accident and that there were other circumstances beyond their control that led to the accident possibly something that the city failed to maintain or upkeep like signs, lights, or markings on the road. Since you were the person who was involved with the accident and who can attest to certain facts they probably requested you as a witness for that reason.

Depending on the judge, it can goeither way. Your presence is required because you were a witness. It probably won't be needed, but take wth you a copy of the police report, documents from your insurance carrier about the incident, and receipts/ statements about the repairs.

Don't feel intimidated now or then - it is a really benign experience. However, time consuming.

they are stupid for going to court for the ticket. they are just wasting their own time by going. just be honest if you're asked any questions. there should be a police report that states what happened. thats the official record. once it's stated and over with, i don't see how them fighting the ticket would make it your fault. they probably just don't wanna pay the fine for the ticket and don't want it on their record. guess they shouldn't thought about that before they rear ended you.

They are trying to go to court to fight it to try to bring the price of the ticket down and also so that they wont get as many points on their license. They may have so many points they are about to lose their license. You have to go as a witness to what really happened. Just tell the truth.

They are going to say that there was some environmental factor that caused the accident, and it was enevitable due to something that obscured the other driver's vision, or the signs weren't posted right. They will probably not win.

You will have to go as a witness. They are fighting the ticket to keep it off their record with the police and the insurance company. More than likely.

He might say the accident happended becasue "He" was rearended which caused him to rearend you. I saw this on one of the judge shows and the judge ruled it was not his fault he hit you because he got hit first.

i don't know but it looks like they are trying to and they want you to prove he did do it.

You have to go only if you are issued a subpoena by the court. Why did the other person get a ticket?
