Certified Mediator jobs?

How difficult is it to start a mediation practice?

I am interested in learning about personal injury, insurance claim, and intellectual property mediation.

I am a second year law student with 19 years of healthcare experience.

Any advice would be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks.

Most mediators that we work with are practicing attorneys, retired attorneys/judges.

The mediators often have many years of experience. In an insurance mediation, it's their job to point out the pro and cons of each sides position. This comes from years of experience.

Mediation is usually just a part of what they do. Unless they are retired from the practice of law, they are often still practicing.

Both parties in the mediation agree on the mediator. The mediators are often selected because of their reputation for fairness.

I'd say you have to graduation - start working as a lawyer and develop the street cred to be a mediator. If insurance interests you -- try to get on with an insurance defense firm. You can find a list of them on the AM Best Web site. http://www3.ambest.com/legal/AttSearch.a...

Sounds like your already smarter than most jokels on yahoo. That's my advice.
